There were certainly many widows in Israel in Elijah’s time, when the rain was lacking for three and a half years, and there was a terrible famine throughout the country; however, none of them were sent by Elijah, but a widow who lived in Zarephath, the city of Sidon. There were many lepers in Israel, in the time of the prophet Elisha; however, none of them were cured, but Naaman, who was from Syria.” Hearing this, everyone in the synagogue was filled with anger, and rising up, they took him out of the city and led him to a ledge of the mountain, on which the city was built, to fall off.
